The GasGas rider opens with a podium this season. Busto beat his teammate, Jeroni Fajardo, in a fight for third and fourth places, as in the previous event in Budapest where the members of the GasGas Trial Factory Team fought for third place.
Both riders made their way into the second round with ease, a knockout where both Busto and Fajardo finished second in their respective groups and that led them to the final for the third and fourth place. A very close hand to hand fight, where finally the Basque rider beat Fajardo by a single point.
After the event in Barcelona, Jaime Busto and Jeroni Fajardo occupy the third and fourth positions in the X-Trial general classification, in a tie with 21 points. Bilbao is to host the next event on the calendar on 16th February, on home turf for the rider from Górliz.
“Our riders have again had to fight for third and fourth places. It has been very close and in the end the positions of Budapest were swapped over. Both are in a tie for third and fourth place in the classification, however our goal lies further ahead. In these moments we are better than lastyear and we have to be optimistic and think that these two races have helped us to take off the pressure in the next GPs”.
JAIME BUSTO“In the first round I felt comfortable but I failed in a couple of areas. In the second round I had to open the areas and slipped a lot, so it was difficult for me to have references. In the end we fought for the third and fourth places with Jeroni, and I am satisfied with my first podium of the year. I hope to improve in the next race and keep fighting for the championship”.
“In general, I did well. We were close to the rest of the riders throughout the race. In the final with Jaime, I went ahead and tried not to make many points, in fact, I only had a 5 in zone 3, which was very difficult, and where Jaime also had a fiasco. I tried to push him to the maximum until the end, but he saved a point more than me”.
