THE countdown has begun to the biggest classic off-road event of the year, so it’s all eyes on the Telford International Centre, which will host the two-day Classic Dirt BikeShow sponsored by Hagon Shocks over the weekend of February 17-18, 2018.
As traditional as the event itself, the Saturday evening of the show sees the hosting of a three-course, sit-down meal while off-road legends recount memories of their exploits to assembled guests. The dinner costs just £33 per person (vegetarian option available) and takes place at the Holiday Inn on site.
The guest speakers for 2018 are:
Gerrit Wolsink – Dutch five times winner of the 500cc United States Grand Prix of motocross, who finished third in the 500cc world championship in 1975 and 1977 and second in 1976 and 1979.
Colin Dommett – Solo trials for the Cotton factory, competing in the ISDT, classic scrambling and latterly becoming the voice of the classic scrambles scene behind the commentator’s microphone. And he’s still competing, 60 years on!
Peter Duke – Successful off-road rider, ISDT competitor, founder of the Duke DVD empire and the son of late world champion motorcycle racer Geoff Duke.
The Classic Dirt Bike Show itself will feature Gerrit, Colin and Peter, plus top 35 Maico rider Roger Garrett – all interviewed during the day by Jack Burnicle.
Lastly, 2018 marks Hagon Shocks’ 60th anniversary and to celebrate, the Classic Dirt Bike Show will have the largest collection of Hagon competition motorcycles ever assembled. The Hagon family will also be joining us at the dinner table.
Exhibition planner, Andrew Catton, said: “The meal will allow guests to hear fascinating tales from the storied careers of legends in the motorcycle industry. The Dirt Bike Show dinner is a special night in the off-road world not to be missed!”
