The 2016 FIM Trial World Championship opened at Cal Rosal in Spain which is located approximately 100 kilometres north of Barcelona and close to the town of Berga. Fifteen points counting days would be included in this year’s eight round series with only one of the rounds contested over a single day in Belgium as the others would be two day competitions. The series title now follows the other FIM motorcycle disciplines moving from the FIM Trial World Championship to three new classes – TrialGP to make the association with road racing – MotoGP – and motocross – MXGP, Trial World Cup to Trial2 which is where Dec will be competing and the 125 Cup to Trial125. A strong entry of sixty six rides from thirteen countries competed on the tweleve section course to be ridden three times on each if the day’s competition.
Dec Bullock: “My new minder for the WTC Andy Blackman joined me in Spain for our first outing of the 2016 season on the Dec Bullock Racing Beta. After the initial section inspection on the Friday we both looked forward to the two days of action. The hazards were a good variety using the natural terrain found in this mountainous area”
“On the first day the hazards rode a little on the easier side and after two five mark penalties on my first lap I knew it would be difficult to move into the top ten. I improved on both my second and third laps which pulled me back into a points scoring position in twelfth”
“Day two pretty much mirrored the opening day and my poor first lap once again left me with much so work to do and I finished thirteenth as my remaining two laps scores came down so yes I am disappointed with the result”
“I have worked well with ‘Blackie’ but I remain frustrated as any small mistake at this level of riding pushes you well down the order. The next round is in Japan where I will have to try and make the top ten to score some valuable points”
“As well as thanking Andy for his hard work and commitment I would like to thank Nick Midgley and all my valued sponsors who are supporting me this year”
Team Roundhouse Beta is still looking for sponsors to add for the 2016 season. Please contact Trials Media if you want to find out more about the team.
