Gas Gas Weekend news

Busy weekend for the lads and also the GG Girls this weekend..

Great to see GG Factory no.1 rider James Dabill rider mixing it with the big boys at X-Trial World indoor Round 2 in Austria finishing 5th. The X-Trial sections are very hit and miss and a small mistake cost dibs going through to the final. Both Dibs and machine were happy and back to training Monday morning to prepare for James’ first Spanish Championship round this coming weekend.

It was also Round 1 of the Women’s and Girls BTC at Seymour’s Arena organised by the ever enthusiastic North Berks Club. No surprise with Emma Bristow winning. Big congratulations to Cloburn/JSTGG riders Louisa Alford and Nikita Smith for finishing 3rd and 4th. Louise just pipping Nikita on a tie break.

Nikita Smith

For me the picture of Louise on her first BTC top class podium says it all with that smile. Also a great ‘family’ pic of all Family Alford helping out.

As for Nikita just to get her back on a bike is a massive achievement regardless of a great result. Typically Nikita was not happy with 4th and I know will be out to prove a point next round.

Catherine Alford was also smiling with an ace win in the intermediate class. GAS GAS rider Olivia Brooksbank also had a class win in the Girls B Class.

We also had our local Manchester 17 MCC organised Bemrose National around the ‘blue skied’ Peak District which was a stunning day.

Over half the trial was on the loved or hated limestone/grass outcrop which was made enjoyable with the fine weather. The 3 routes were perfectly marked out and it was an enjoyable day for all.

Michael Brown

Great rides from JSTGGUK Team riders Dan Thorpe and Michael Brown who were first and second which is great news for the team and brand. They are both riding extremely well and it’s great to see Michael skipping around enjoying his hobby. As for DT, he is on a mission at the moment. Very focussed and determined to continue to dominate the UK National Team.

I have a very good team this year and choosing my A Team for the SSDT is not going to be easy!
