The off road motorcycle section of the Mid Antrim Motor Club Ltd will be promoting their Slemish Cup trial around the slopes of the famous County Antrim mountain near Broughshane on Saturday 29th October starting at 10-30am from the mountain car park.
We are delighted to announce that The J.P.Corry Group, The Complete Builders Suppliers, are to continue with their sponsorship of the event this year. We are deeply indebted to the J.P.Corry Group for this continuing support. We are also very grateful to Mid & East Antrim Council who assists the event with the use of the mountain car park and toilet facilities.
The event would not be possible without the cooperation of all the landowners at Slemish who always support the club by allowing the use of their lands. The club are deeply indebted to all the landowners for all their help and cooperation.
The event will be the a round of the Ulster Championship 2016 and it is the final Round of the Michelin Mid Antrim trials series, so there is still a lot to play for at the event. The winner will receive the Mackness Slemish Cup and replica. The Youth A winner will receive the
John McCosh Memorial Trophy and replica. The current positions in the Michelin Series are very close with just 8 marks separating the top 4 riders. It’s all to play for on the slippery slopes of Slemish. Full championship details are on our website WWW.mamc-bikes.co.uk
The trial will have sections for all grades both adult and youth. The main adult course will have a
3 lap, 15 section format. A lap of Slemish on a trials bike is for a lot of competitors a trial in itself so the organisers are trying this format again this year to try and encourage as many riders as possible to have a go, with only 3 laps to complete. But the sense of achievement having completed this event, which is now one of only a few of the old style mountain courses left, is something which long lives in the memory.
The results announcement and prize distribution for both the JP Corry Slemish Trial and the Michelin Series will be held in the Halfway House Bar, Carnlough Road, Broughshane immediately after the event. Our thanks to Pat Hamill and his staff for all their help and support.
