Leinster Octember Trial

Octember the fictious month in the mad world of Doctor Seuss and as we approached Carrigreen Forest, Sally Gap, in the downpours of rain early Sunday morning felt like we were also little mad ourselves but just like the best of children’s tales there was a happy ending. Struggled into our wet gear and then the day brightened up and we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon of sunshine and a good day’s sport at Leinster Motor Club Octember trial.

Good to see four Youth C riders starting to make their way on the adult course competing on the blue line over three laps.  Honours went to Cody Ward 43 marks from Jessy Ward, Cian Redden and Ben Allison.

Over the smaller Youth C course Luke Kehoe was the forerunner with a loss of 13 marks.

Youth B was an all Munster affair with Patrick McCarthy losing 16 marks some 30 marks better than his nearest rival.

A steady ride from John Dunne on 12 marks saw him best in the Sportsmans from Alex Guthrie 17 and Nathanya Houlihan 25.

Clubman saw a very good and much approved performance on the day by Thomas O’Grady with a loss of 7 marks from George Smyth 10 and Ben Condren and Ritchie Power 14 all very tight.

Semi Experts was won by Mark Harris 35 on him Yamaha Majesty followed by Rob Regan and Philip Harris both losing 40 marks.

Expert Class was also won by a member of the Harris Family with Adam Harris 80 followed close by Ulster visitor Stuart Hanlon 82 while Scott Callaghan finished third on 99.

Expert Elite Class could only be a battle of the Doyle brothers Sean and Cillian as quite a few of our elite riders were in Yorkshire competing in the Scott Trial.  Honours went to Cillian thanks to two very good last two laps and with a total loss of 73 marks was victor Sean finishing on 82.
