May has arrived and the eyes of the motorcycle trials world turn to the Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) and its base for the event – Fort William in Scotland. This competition is the largest of its type, and offers the 280 competitors from around the globe six days of trials action in the scenic Highland location.

Last year’s event was won for the ninth time by Dougie Lampkin on the Spanish Vertigo machine, with local Scottish rider, Gary MacDonald, coming second followed by fellow Gas Gas rider, Sam Haslam, in third – all were using Michelin tyres. The Michelin brand has a long and proud association with the SSDT going back to the late seventies, with French rider, Gilles Burgat, giving them their first in 1981 and continuing through to the most recent win for Michelin in 2015 with Lampkin.

The event is noted for its demanding conditions, and will again this year welcome a handful of female competitors. Including current Ladies World and British Trials Champion, Emma Bristow, another rider that chooses Michelin tyres for the tough terrain, she will return on her Sherco to improve on her 45th position at the 2015 event.
