The 2016 ACU British Trials Championship moved to the south of the country for a double header of events, but the outcome was the same. Defending champion James Dabill riding his Vertigo fitted with Michelin X-Light tyres proved why he is Britain’s undisputed number one, with a dominant display on both days of action over three laps of twelve hazards in brilliant sunshine.

On Saturday, at the Hookwood Trials Park, the terrain consisted of many man-made hazards – a total contrast to the natural hazards of Sunday at the Butser Lime Works with many steep climbs and banks. The same disused quarry which hosted a round of the FIM world trials championship in 1988 won by Steve Saunders and Michelin tyres.

With Dabill winning every round of the 2016 ACU series, it’s the contest for the runner up positions where the action is focused. Newly crowned FIM Trial T2 Cup world champion Jack Price, holds a slender lead over Jack Sheppard as we enter the remaining four rounds of the series which will all be based in the north of the country.

James Dabill: “I may have taken two wins at the weekend with a healthy point lead, but I have to remain focused on title number seven. The Michelin X-Light tyres performed at their very best in the warm conditions and I was so confident in them that I used the same set of tyres on both days of the competition despite the varied conditions”

Jack Price: “Taking the T2 World Cup has given me more confidence in my riding. Part of my new found confidence comes from the superb qualities of the Michelin X-Light tyres, which I know will always perform at their very best even when I’m pushing myself to the limit. ”
