Scorpa Weekend Race Report

A long trip over water to the Isle Of Man for the ladies and girls this past weekend for what would be the next 2 rounds of the Acklams British Championship.

Scorpa UK number 1 Jess Bown would continue her great form from the past few weeks with two solid 2nd place finishes. Jess really made the position her own, riding extremely well she would be well in front of those chasing her behind! Jess is really starting to up her level of riding and laps scores on both days matching that of eventual winner Emma Bristow shows her rise in form!

The weekend would be hit with severe weather especially on the Saturday! The Peveril MC & LCC club doing a fantastic job to move venues to save the event after extreme rain and wind made Saturdays venue unsafe so big congratulations to all involved at the club.

Again the weekend previous was the last round for the Youth British Championship. Reece Gazzard would go to the event at brackon rocks with a chance of winning the youth ‘B’ title. However it wasn’t meant to be and a steady day where Reece never really got going ended up him finishing 3rd overall in the championship. We are all very proud of Reece’s achievements this year on board the factory 125 Scorpa. As mentioned his shoulder injury has held him back a little but his determination has shown through and it’s credit to that he kept in the title fight right up until the final round.

Jess –‘ I really pleased with my results this weekend. The club was asking for making sure both trials ran so thank you to them. I have a great little team around me and it’s really helping with my confidence on the bike! I need to keep pushing as I seem to have 2 really good laps and 1 not so good. I think if I can address this then even better results are possible. Thank you to everyone out there supporting me it means a lot

Reece –‘ To finish the year 3rd is ok for me. Knowing I could of won the championship is disappointing but I’m proud to of got all the way to the last round still with a chance. I will now focus on getting my shoulder 100% and start looking at next year! Thank you to Birkett Motorsport and all my sponsors. The 125 has been faultless all year.

Nigel Birkett –‘ The team and my riders are going from strength to strength, I’m so pleased for all involved! We are a small close team and it’s great to see so many great result. We’ve seen a huge rise in Jess these last few months and it’s fantastic to she her enjoying her riding so much as well. Reece has done us proud in the Youth class as well! A strong and determined lad with rest potential, I can’t wait to see what the future brings both these riders’

Birkett Motorsport would like to thank all of there associated sponsors who help the team compete, without them it wouldn’t be possible
