The Surrey Schoolboy Trials Club are delighted to announce that the profits from their recent Len Hutty Memorial Trial amounted to a whooping £2621 and will be donated to The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Len’s memory.
The club were the principle organisers of the trial but were assisted in this by the Croydon and Bognor clubs, the Croydon club running a raffle on the day which raised £314. The clubs would like to thank those people who donated prizes for the raffle plus they received a £100 donation from Crawley Trail Project and £70 from Naughty but Nice, caterers on the day.
There was an enormous entry of 235 riders who tackled 2 laps of 18 sections plus a special test laid out by Clerk of the Course Mark Watmoreand friends with the lovely Mandy Frearson handling the paperwork.
Winner of the Len Hutty Memorial Award was Philip Martin who managed to ride his sweet sounding Triumph without penalty, the award was presented to him by Len’s wife Beverley and daughter Charlotte at the recent Southern Experts Trial. The club are hoping to run the trial again this year so watch this space for further news.
